Kabul, Feb.20, 2002: Government run orphanage in Kabul was established by Russian puppet regime and it was equipped with all modern facilities at that time. When fundamentalist groups entered Kabul in 1992, like other institutions, the orphanage was also changed into a torture cell for hundreds of innocent orphans. Over 1000 orphan girls and boys of 6-13 year are still living under horrible conditions and no attentions has been paid to it by the interim government. Many of children are ill and they have very little to eat and wear in the cold winter. RAWA has so far provided food, stationary and cloths to all the children but their need is for greater than what RAWA can afford to provide. Few days ago some of our activists spent first day of Eid with the children and organized a big Eid party for them. Many children believed this was the first happy day ever they remember in whole time.
