UNHRC condemns HR violations in Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD (NNI): The United Nations Human Rights Commission has adopted a resolution, condemning human rights violations in Afghanistan, particularly in the Taliban-controlled areas.

The resolution was passed after the commission considered reports of human rights violations in Afghanistan, reports Voice of America.

According to resolution innocent people are being arrested and killed without any investigations and it condemned this act of the Taliban regime. The statement has also said that Taliban entered UN offices in Kandahar last month.

The statement has condemned the killing of Iranian diplomats and one newsmen in Mazar-e-Sharif and the killing of UN officials in Taliban-controlled areas.

The resolution called for peaceful settlement of Afghan conflict and restoration of democracy and the supremacy of law in Afghanistan. It further called upon all other countries to respect the unity of the country and not to interfere in the internal affairs of Afghanistan.

The resolution asked all Afghan groups to respect the human rights and end their conflicts and cooperate with UN efforts for the restoration of peace in Afghanistan, asking to pay compensation to those people whose rights have been violated in country.

It further said that Afghan groups should fulfill their responsibility about security to UN officials, international agencies and NGOs in Afghanistan. "The United Nations Secretary General should ensure that women should be included in UN workers and officials in Afghanistan," it said.

The resolution said that when peace would restore in Afghanistan then UN should provide help in formation of law in which safe guard the human rights of all Afghan ethnic groups.

The United Nations asked all member states and world agencies to provide aid when the war ended and peace is restored in Afghanistan.
