Life under the rule of Taliban in Mazar-e-Sharif
Many women mostly widows survive by selling household items and fabrics. The Taliban prohibits these women from leaving home without a "maharam" (a close male relative). But knowing they must continue working to feed their families, the women withstand the physical and verbal abuse of Taliban authorities. For the present, these women have resisted the Taliban and its primitive laws and codes of behaviour.
