At least 10 people have been killed and 20 injured after members of the anti-Taliban alliance opened fire on a peace rally in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif.
Hundreds of protesters gathered in the Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif to demand an end to factional fighting in northern Afghanistan.
The sources said protesters shouted slogans against the factions, members of the anti-Taliban alliance opened fire on the demonstrators who were marching to an Interior Ministry building to demand the withdrawal of armed fighters from Mazar-i-Sharif -- the headquarters of the northern opposition alliance.
The demonstrators were protesting recent factional fighting between members of the alliance that opposes the Taliban in Afghanistan. All international aid workers pulled out of Mazar-e-Sharif last week after heavy clashes broke out in and around the city.
