Widely reported:
100,000 Afghans Facing Starvation
INTERVIEWS with ACTIVISTS familiar with conditions in refugee camps can be scheduled
Known:
Another human tragedy is unfolding on Afghanistan's border with Iran. More than 100,000 refugees have been forced into the hot deserts of Nimroz and Farah by Iranian Security Forces with no water, food, or shelter. (details...)
Immediately available:
INTERVIEWS via Skype or Cell phone with activists with knowledge of conditions in these camps can be scheduled. See the list of contacts in column on the right. They can be available 24 hours a day, but with preferred times listed.
Iran has forcibly separated men/fathers from their families and forced the women and children into the desert alone, with untold numbers of small children separated even from their mothers.
RAWA runs a network of orphanages and this is our direct concern, small children alone and unable to survive without help. Under usual circumstances, we provide sponsored shelter, food, and education with an emphasis on breaking the cycle of fundamentalist hate. BUT THE IMMEDIATE CRISIS demands attention for saving lives.
Journalists, print and broadcast, we stand willing to help you with stories you are developing and respect your independent perspective. Please help us bring attention to this growing humanitarian crisis in order to increase aid to the victims and encourage a political solution to resolve it.
