Breaking the Propaganda of Silence: A Benefit for RAWALos Angeles, California - Ocober 7, 2006October 7th 2006 marks the 5th anniversary of the start of Operation Enduring Freedom; violence is on the rise in Afghanistan and Afghan women are still struggling for their rights. The Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA), the oldest women's political group in Afghanistan, continues the struggle against war and fundamentalism. Join internationally renowned playwright Eve Ensler ("Vagina Monologues", V-day), recording artist Michelle Shocked, actor and activist Mimi Kennedy and Zoya, a member of RAWA for an unforgettable afternoon. Plus exclusive a sneak film preview of "A View from a Grain of Sand" by Meena Nanji. This event will be emceed by Sonali Kolhatkar (KPFK, AWM).
