Aurat Association's gift for RAWA |
On 17 of April at a small ceremony in Islamabad, Aurat Association (Mansehra- Pakistan) presented RAWA a sculpture of a burqa-wearing woman and some other sketches showing the atrocities of the Taliban against the Afghan women as a gift for its indefatigable work and activities for the cause of women. The gift was given by Aurat Association at the backdrop of RAWA's undeniable struggle to hold the women's rights in a Afghanistan. Giving the gift, Mr. Malik Akbar, Chief Coordinator of Aurat Association praised the activities of RAWA and wished for further and closer cooperation between the two associations. He also condemned the Taliban for their brutal attitude towards women and promised its association's assistance for the cause of the Afghan women. While receiving the gift an activists of RAWA, thanked the Aurat Association and said: "Though it is very encouraging that we are receiving the gift for our humanitarian activities and struggle for freedom, democracy and women's rights, but the Pakistan people have more to do for the Afghan people. We strongly demand Pakistani people to put pressure on their government to change its policy towards the Taliban. We hope that all democratic forces of Pakistan support the democratic forces of Afghanistan and extend their cooperation for the establishing of a free, just and broad-based government in Kabul." At the end, both associations hoped for further and closer cooperation with each other. An invitation also extended to RAWA by Aurat Association to visit the Association in its base at Mansehra as soon as possible. |
RAWA asks Pakistan to change Policy towards Taliban

ISLAMABAD (NNI): The Revolutionary Association of the Afghan Women (RAWA) has asked the Pakistan government to change policy towards the Taliban and condemn their atrocities against the Afghan women.
"We strongly demand Pakistan people to put pressure on their government to change its policy towards the Taliban. The great gift for the Afghan people would be the condemnation of the Taliban by the Pakistan government, a RAWA activist said while receiving a gift from Aurat Association (Mansehra). The Aurat Association gifted presented a small sculpture of a burqa-wearing women and some other sketches showing the atrocities of the Taliban against the Afghan women.
The gift was given by Aurat Association in the backdrop of RAWAs struggle to uphold the womens rights "in a country where talking and thinking about issues such is women is forbidden and if heard, is answered by lashes and bashes," a RAWA release said on Friday.
Handing over the gift, Mr. Malik Akbar, Chief Coordinator of Aurat Association praised the activities of RAWA and wished for further and closer cooperation between the tow association. He also condemned the Taliban for their brutal attitude towards women and promised its associations assistance for the cause of the Afghan women.
